Now that this
station is back on the air, we take you back to our regularly scheduled
program, Writers' Wednesday. Our last episode was Act Two of four acts of
friend Chuckles' original script for the series "Star Trek:
Enterprise". Rather than recap the story thus far — before interruption by
a blown motherboard, and recalcitrant wireless card — I direct you to:
Act One and
Act One will
also give you some background on this particular series, and the major
characters. And now, this week's feature presentation: "Thyatira",

ACT THREE
FADE
IN:
INTERIOR BUILDING
– DAY
Archer
is sitting next to LAODICEA, a man in his 30's, who is lying in bed.
LAODICEA:
Everyone comes in here when the weird things happen.
ARCHER:
Why is that?
LAODICEA:
For some reason, nothing strange will enter here.
ARCHER:
I'm not sure if the doctor would agree.
LAODICEA:
We have been seeing many of the animals in other buildings, but not in this
one.
ARCHER:
Laodicea… what animals?
LAODICEA:
Lions… eagles… calves…
Laodicea
then passes out. Archer gets up in a hurry.
ARCHER:
Doctor!
Phlox
rushes over.
PHLOX:
Don't do this to me…
ARCHER:
Who are you talking to?
PHLOX:
Whoever is in charge…
Archer
POINTS to Laodicea.
ARCHER
(impatiently): Is he going to make it?
PHLOX:
He doesn't have much time left, Captain.
Phlox
continues to scan. T'Pol and Trip arrive.
ARCHER
(to T'Pol): Where was that signal coming from?
T'Pol
and Trip react.
T'POL:
The signal…
ARCHER:
Yes.
TRIP:
…You know, Captain, that's a funny story.
ARCHER
(angry): Then why am I not laughing?
TRIP:
You tell him, T'Pol.
ARCHER
(to T'Pol): What's your report?
T'POL:
We had to get another scanner.
Archer
reacts.
ARCHER
(to Trip): Why couldn't you fix it?
TRIP:
Well…
Archer
begins to leave.
TRIP:
…After almost getting eaten by a lion.
Archer
stops and turns toward Trip.
ARCHER:
What did you say?
T'POL:
We both saw a lion and an eagle.
Archer
takes this in.
TRIP:
Don't forget the horses.
ARCHER:
What horses?
TRIP:
Now, that one was strange …
ARCHER
(impatiently): Strange how?
T'Pol
is reluctant to tell Archer.
T'POL:
They didn't show up on my scanner.
ARCHER:
Now I've heard it all.
Archer
leaves them.
T'POL:
I told you we shouldn't tell him.
Archer
walks over to Phlox and Reed.
ARCHER:
What did you find out, Doctor?
PHLOX:
That everyone here is dying of different diseases.
ARCHER:
What about Debbie?
Phlox
reacts.
PHLOX:
I've been so busy with everyone else I forgot about her.
Archer
reacts.
ARCHER:
Let's check it out.
They
walk over to Debbie and Smyrna. Phlox starts SCANNING Debbie.
DEBBIE:
What are you doing?
ARCHER:
The doctor just wants to find out what is wrong with you.
DEBBIE:
I'm fine.
PHLOX:
I agree.
ARCHER:
What are you saying?
PHLOX:
(surprised): There is nothing wrong with her.
Archer
and Reed react.
REED:
That's crazy.
ARCHER:
Maybe… not.
Reed
shoots a look at Archer.
REED:
What are you saying?
ARCHER
(to Phlox): Where is she from?
PHLOX:
Her biological signs…
ARCHER:
Yes?
PHLOX:
…have been altered.
Reed
has a surprised look on his face. Archer acts as if this information is no
surprise to him.
REED:
You mean surgically?
PHLOX:
No.
ARCHER:
Then how, Doctor?
PHLOX:
I don't know. All I can tell you is that before she came to Thyatira, she was
human.
SMYRNA:
She shouldn't pay for our mistakes.
ARCHER:
What are you saying?
SMYRNA:
She has only been here...
DEBBIE:
Father! Don't tell them!
SMYRNA:
…for eighteen years.
Archer,
Phlox and Reed react.
SMYRNA:
But you haven't done anything.
ARCHER:
Done what?
SMYRNA:
We deserve to be punished for what we have done.
Archer
becomes impatient.
ARCHER:
What are you saying?
SMYRNA
(weakly): Only God can forgive me now.
Smyrna
falls limp.
ARCHER:
Doctor!
Phlox
uses his scanner.
PHLOX:
It's too late.
ARCHER:
What was he talking about?
T'Pol
arrives.
T'POL:
Captain.
ARCHER
(to T'Pol): Yes.
T'Pol
looks at Smyrna.
T'POL:
I am sorry about your loss.
ARCHER:
I just wish I knew what he was referring to.
T'POL:
I believe we need to go back to Debbie's house.
ARCHER:
Yes. You're right. And figure out what's sending those transmissions.
T'POL:
You believe it is a machine?
ARCHER:
I'm starting to think so.
T'POL:
Trip and I will go.
ARCHER
(sarcastically): Make sure everything is working this time.
T'Pol
reacts.
T'POL:
Yes, Sir.
CUT

EXTERIOR
DEBBIE'S HOUSE – DAY
as
we see T'Pol, Trip and Debbie enter the clearing.
TRIP:
Okay. I can handle this.
T'POL:
Why do you sound doubtful?
DEBBIE:
I don't want to go in there.
TRIP:
Don't worry…
Trip
stops talking and sees….
TRIP'S
POV:
There
is a BLACK HORSE GALLOPING past them.
TRIP:
…nothing is going to happen.
T'Pol
looks at her scanner.
T'POL:
It's not registering.
DEBBIE
(terrified): What was that?
TRIP:
I'm hoping a figment of my imagination.
DEBBIE:
I want to go back.
T'POL:
You listen here.
Debbie
reacts.
T'POL
(firmly): Your house is somehow connected with our mission. If there is something
going on in there, you are going to help us find it.
T'Pol
walks over to the house.
T'POL:
Let's get going.
Trip
and Debbie follow.
TRIP:
Let's go.
INTERIOR
HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – MOVING – CONTINUOUS
as
the three of them enter the house. Debbie has a terrified look on her face.
DEBBIE:
I want to get out of here.
Trip
grabs her as she turns and tries to leave.
TRIP:
I don't think so.
T'POL:
Good job.
Trip
guides her to the couch.
TRIP:
How about you sit here for a few minutes?
Debbie
is too scared to move.
TRIP
(to T'Pol): How long do you think she's known that she's a human?
T'POL:
It is hard to tell… but she should be giving us answers.
T'Pol
continues to scan.
TRIP:
Are you picking up any more of those signals?
T'POL:
No. (BEAT) It seems as if the signals come and go.
TRIP:
I'll look around.
INTERIOR
KITCHEN – CONTINUOUS
Trip
begins looking around the kitchen. When he doesn't find anything, he moves on
to...
INTERIOR
HALLWAY – CONTINUOUS
Trip
continues down the hallway until he reaches...
INTERIOR
BEDROOM – CONTINUOUS
Trip
enters the bedroom and notices the same pictures on the wall. This time one of
them catches his attention.
TRIP'S
POV:
as
he sees a picture of Debbie. She is the same age as she is now, but without any
disfiguring markings. Trip grabs the picture off the wall and runs out.
CUT

INTERIOR
LIVING ROOM – CONTINUOUS
TRIP
(O.C.): Hey…T'Pol!
T'Pol
stops scanning.
T'POL:
What is it?
Trip
enters with the picture and shows it to T'Pol. T'Pol reacts.
T'POL
(as she hands the photo to Debbie): Would you care to explain this?
Debbie
looks at the photo and reacts.

INTERIOR BUILDING
– DAY
Archer
is talking to Reed when Phlox arrives.
PHLOX:
(impatiently): Captain!
ARCHER
(to Phlox): What is it, Doctor?
PHLOX:
(impatiently): Now I know why these people are glad that I'm a doctor.
REED:
Well, that's obvious. So you can heal them.
PHLOX:
(impatiently): Nope. That's not it.
ARCHER:
Calm down, Doctor.
Phlox
relaxes.
ARCHER:
Now – tell me what you found.
PHLOX:
They are doing some sort of cloning.
Archer
and Reed react.
ARCHER:
Are you sure?
PHLOX:
Yes. That is why my scanner wouldn't pick it up on Debbie.
Archer
reacts.
PHLOX:
Apparently they need to keep treating her with something similar to proteonics.
REED:
That was banned in the 21st century.
PHLOX:
Of course. The Sardian doctors would keep giving it to her to make her look
like one of them.
Archer
takes this in.
REED:
And there are no more doctors.
PHLOX:
Yes. No one to make any more. She took the last dose just before we got here
ARCHER:
What happens if she doesn't keep on these… proteonics?
PHLOX:
She would just return to the normal appearance she had on Earth. (BEAT) She
would look human.
Archer
and Reed react.
ARCHER
(to himself): Just like in my dream.
REED:
Captain?
Phlox
looks around.
PHLOX:
Where is Debbie?
Archer,
Reed and Phlox look around. Then Archer remembers.
ARCHER:
She went back to the house with Trip and T'Pol.
REED:
I hope nothing's happening over there.
PHLOX:
I doubt if the same thing could be happening as it did in your dream.
Archer
reacts.
CUT
TO:
INTERIOR
HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – DAY
as
we see Debbie morphing from Sardian to human until she looks like she does in
the picture and in Archer's dream, and we…
